The Project

The ESPE de Bretagne has responded to the latest call of the Erasmus+ programs, Europe's Horizon 20-20. Key Action 2 - cooperation in innovation and exchange of practices. A project that we submitted in March 2018 and which was accepted on 20 July 2018.

Our acronym DICO+ stands for "Inclusive COoperation Set-Ups". The aim of this project is to help teachers - in initial and in-service training - to develop innovative cooperative practices in their classes, from the earliest age of the students.

A 3-year project (which will end in 2021) which will be based on a field of experimentation composed of 70 European schools (primary and secondary), with 1800 teachers in the 7 countries involved in the partnership.

The students involved in the cooperative activities analyzed are between the ages of 8 and 13 (French "Cycle 3").

The activities that we are going to develop during the 3 years of the project will be carried out by a consortium that we wanted to be plural (universities, inspectorates, schools, secondary schools) and representative of the European educational systems currently in force (North, South, East), which includes universities, educational institutes, inspectorates-rectorates, a network of schools in the Netherlands, located in 7 European countries.

The ESPE de Bretagne will be the coordinator of the project and will therefore have as partners: the Inspectorate of Botosani, Romania, the Assessorate of Education and Culture of the Autonomous Region of Valle d'Aosta (Italy), Cedin-Interprimair, a Dutch company which works in close collaboration with universities and schools, the following faculties of Education: John von Neumann University in Kecskemét, Hungary, University of Cordoba, Spain, Vytautas Magnus University in Vilnius, Lithuania, and ESPE de Normandie.

This sharing of practices on a European scale will therefore enable us to compare current approaches and practices in different systems in Northern, Southern and Eastern Europe. The experiments of the DICO+ project will cover all disciplines taught at school, with a special focus on disciplines that promote social inclusion (language of schooling for example).

These classroom experiments will enable consortium members to develop tools to help develop training in cooperative practices in initial and in-service training for teachers. Trainee teachers in initial training and teachers already in post (1st and 2nd degree) will be solicited this year and in year 2 for the experimentation phase. Experimentation schedule: in 2 phases - from February 2019 to June 2019 / from September 2019 to June 2020

The main outputs of the DICO+ project will be : The construction of a public platform to host the resources produced: reference situations filmed and commented with the expertise of Educational Research on the theme, lighting of scientific articles, interviews of teachers, students, evaluations of interviews conducted at the European level ... These resources will be classified by level of expertise: beginner-intermediate-advanced. A free and permanent access to the platform's resources is planned.

Two European seminars will be organized during the project with the following objectives:

  • to complete the pedagogical training of seminar participants (teachers in initial and in-service training) on cooperative practices: class observations in the country organizing the seminar, lectures by researchers, feedback from teachers and trainees...
  • select together the media that will be loaded on the platform

Dissemination activities will be of various kinds: brochures, meetings, study days, regional, national and international conferences, writing scientific articles in international educational journals.
